Umbria, Italy
Don’t let the woods

A story of restoration
and balance
History
Monte Solare
For years, the forest crept over one of Monte Solare’s old vineyards. The vines were still there, hidden in the undergrowth.
Bringing them back meant restoring the estate, and Monte Solare in all its breadth, with respect for the local flora and fauna.
This work gave us a wider view: protecting the landscape, reviving its history and opening up new possibilities for the area.
Today, that vineyard is the first expression of a project that spans heritage, agriculture, hospitality, sport, lifestyle and contemporary ways of living in Umbria.
A land restored with respect and natural care, opening a new chapter for Monte Solare.
A land
to rediscover
Panicale · Lake Trasimeno · Umbria
Monte Solare lies in Panicale, near Lake Trasimeno, in a land of ancient history, farmed landscapes and living nature.
That is what inspires our project: preserving what the land holds and exploring new ways of cultivating it, living in it and giving it new life.
Studying its soils and climate allowed us to uncover its history, understand its potential and plan its future.
Umbria has a story.
Monte Solare explores what Umbria still has to tell.
The first expression
Our old vineyard, Santonovo di Sopra, certified organic, gives rise to Monte Solare’s first wine: an organic blend of two varieties.
60% Sangiovese — The variety that ties the wine to its Italian identity. 40% Cabernet Sauvignon — Depth, structure and a contemporary reading of the place.
The 2024 harvest marks the start of this new chapter. Around 6,000 bottles from a vineyard restored and tended to find its natural balance again.

A fresh look
at Umbria
Small plots. Big ambitions.
Monte Solare’s expression does not end with its first wine. The four historic hectares of the Santonovo di Sopra vineyard are being joined by new plots, planted on the highest ground of the estate, to explore its potential for wine and reveal a richness worthy of Italy’s great terroirs.
The project is moving towards small-batch wines that offer a contemporary take on Umbria, alongside other activities that let people experience its nature in different, immersive ways.
We are not trying to repeat what other regions have already done. We want to discover what this one can offer.
Federico Isgró has almost 30 years of experience in vineyards and wineries in Argentina, Chile and Italy, working on renowned wine projects.
An agronomist and oenologist from the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, he completed a master’s in Oenology and Viticulture at the University of Siena, in Montalcino. Five years in Italy, four of them in Valpolicella, deepened his knowledge of the great classic wines and the European winemaking tradition.
Back in Argentina, he turned his career towards fine wines, working alongside people who share the same pursuit: interpreting each origin with precision and respect.
“My Italian roots brought me naturally to Umbria, to interpret its landscape through wine.”
Wine is only the beginning
Monte Solare Estate
Monte Solare is part of a much wider working landscape: other farming activities connect the Estate with its land. Today, wine and olive oil are its two tangible expressions. Tomorrow, new products and activities will offer other ways of experiencing a place that, after eras of greatness, is writing a new story.
One estate. Many ways of expressing a single origin.
